WHAT IS SPRITE SPLITTER?
Sprite Splitter is an advanced extraction tool designed to dissect dense sprite sheets back into individual, game-ready frames. Whether you are extracting assets from a retro game rip, slicing a mathematically perfect grid, or breaking down a messy, AI-generated character sheet, this tool gives you absolute control. It features an interactive canvas to draw, drag, and resize slicing boxes manually, alongside powerful auto-detection algorithms to do the heavy lifting for you.
HOW IT WORKS
1. Image Upload
Drop your sprite sheet onto the canvas. The image is decoded 100% locally in your browser.
2. Box Generation
Use a Split Mode to automatically generate bounding boxes around your sprites, or draw them manually with your mouse.
3. Refine & Cut
Tweak the boxes by dragging their edges. Apply the Magic Wand background removal if needed, then click 'Cut' to extract the frames.
4. Batch Export
Review the sliced frames in the bottom gallery. Download them all instantly as an organized ZIP archive.
SETTINGS GUIDE
Split Mode: Manual (Draw boxes)
The default interactive mode. Click and drag anywhere on the empty canvas to draw a new bounding box. Click inside a box to move it, or drag its edges to resize it precisely.
Split Mode: Grid (Uniform)
The standard method for modern, mathematically aligned sprite sheets. Define a fixed Frame Width and Frame Height, and the engine will cut the image into a perfect checkerboard.
Split Mode: Alpha Auto-detect
The smart method. The engine scans the image for transparent gaps and automatically wraps bounding boxes around isolated 'islands' of pixels. Perfect for AI-generated character sheets.
Split Mode: Color Key
Classic extraction. Select a solid background color (like pure magenta). The engine treats that color as empty space and slices out the actual sprites. Essential for ripping retro assets.
Background
Change the visual background color of the canvas (Checkerboard, Black, White, or Green) to better contrast with your sprite colors and ease the slicing process.
Remove Background (Magic Wand)
Uses a flood-fill algorithm to detect the background color at the edges of your image and erases it inward until it hits the contours of your sprites, protecting inner colors.
Export Format
PNG files (ZIP): Packages all extracted frames into a single, compressed archive. Individual PNGs: Allows you to download only the currently active, selected frame from the gallery.
